Rest for the Weary - Dec 28, 2014

I want to take the next few programs to look at Matthew 11:25-30. The title of this study is Rest for the Weary. This text has much to say about the peril not of directly opposing God, necessarily, but ignoring Him - being indifferent to Christ. It also speaks of God's sovereignty in salvation as well as man's responsibility. In today's program we will set the context. Visit JustinPeters.org.

Hermeneutics - Proclamation - Dec 21, 2014

Well, this program wraps up our series on Hermeneutics. Hopefully we have gained some knowledge and are appropriating that knowledge. So now what? Now it is time to proclaim that knowledge. In Ezra 7 we see that the prophet "studied the law of the Lord, practiced it, and taught it to Israel." This is the proper order. We should study, practice what we know and then teach it - proclaim it - to others. Visit JustinPeters.org.

Justin Peters on Echo Zoe Radio - Dec 17, 2014

Over the last few years, there have been several books, movies, and other accounts of people visiting both Heaven and Hell. The three most memorable being Colton Burpo, a (then) four-year-old boy who supposedly visited Heaven; Don Piper, supposedly killed instantly in a car accident, and visited Heaven for 90 minutes before being revived; and Bill Wiese, who claims to have been dead for 23 minutes, visiting Hell during that time.

Justin Peters, of Justin Peters Ministries, travels the US and overseas to give seminars on the Word-Faith movement, and other discernment topics, joins Echo Zoe Radio this month to discuss these stories, and compare them to Scripture and each other to demonstrate their falsehood. Visit EchoZoe.com and JustinPeters.org for more.

Hermeneutics - Appropriation - Dec 15, 2014

In our series on Hermeneutics we have looked at some of the fundamental principles of how to rightly divide the Word of Truth and have examined some of the common pitfalls, mistakes, that people make in interpreting Scripture. hopefully, we have gained some knowledge in the last few months. In today's program we will look at Appropriation. In other words, what do we do with the knowledge that we now have? Head knowledge is good and needful, but unless it is appropriated in our lives, it is useless and, can actually bring God's correction. I will give an example of one church that, unfortunately, had a disconnect between its knowledge and appropriation of that knowledge. Let us not be hearers only! Visit JustinPeters.org.

Hermeneutics - Individualizing - Dec 8, 2014

One of the most common mistakes people make in interpreting Scripture is that of Individualizing. Individualizing occurs when we take a statement or promise found in the Bible and immediately read ourselves into it. We automatically assume the statement is about us or the promise is for us. We will look at a couple of examples of this, one from Experiencing God authored by Henry Blackaby, and learn how to avoid this very common mistake. Avoiding mistakes in hermeneutics enables us to have a better understanding of God and "experience" Him - rightly! Visit us at JustinPeters.org.
